Interview With Professor Renee Soto.

For this assignment, Professor Scully asked us to interview a faculty or staff member, and I chose Professor Renee Soto, who teaches Creative Writing here at Roger Williams; she has been here since the Fall of 2004, and I am currently in her Contemporary American Poetry class.

In the interview, I asked her about her experience as an undergraduate at Clark College where she started out as an Elementary Education Major. She transferred to Mary Washington College, and taught high school English for 10 years, continuing her education with graduate school when she was 35 years-old, and as she described, she was trying to preempt a mid-life crisis. The interview concludes with her discussing the most rewarding and frustrating thing about writing, and that is, that there is just so much to read.

Interview.

*EDIT* So after many attempts at trying to fix the size, it WILL NOT WORK. I've tried everything I was supposed to and it keeps saving all scrunched. Grrrrr. I apologize, Professor Scully.

So this is my friend Fadi talking about how he is from Lebanon and how he decided on school here, etc. At the end there is a little something special.

Peace.

So after a very long weekend...

I slept so much and I think I'm just even more exhausted. Oh well. We were asked to post a video so I'm going to post the video of my roommate jumping and getting 2nd place in her jumping class at UConn on Saturday. She rode a horse named Ovation, who is soon giving birth to a little Morgan foal :)

Peace.

Woops.

So I haven't posted in a week...oops :( We worked in Final Cut Pro today and it was fairly easy to pick up. My Show & Tell video is almost finished and I should be able to finish it tomorrow while I'm in the lab. The clips and audio worked out perfectly so I'm hoping the final product looks good.

Right now it's snowing/icing outside, and I'm really surprised at how many times it has snowed here since we've been back. It hasn't accumulated much, but if the bridge freezes over, we might not have class tomorrow (or at least in the morning...then I'd only have an hour of class tomorrow). The plows outside are annoying though, and our room has the most horrible draft. When I'm in bed, I can feel a constant breeze of temperatures in the teens. It's pleasant.

But yeah so before I posted my Show & Tell project, I thought I'd test out the add video feature and I took a video of my Betta fish, Chico, swimming around being his cool self. I know I'm lame, but I was not about to take a video of myself; Professor Scully will attest to that when he saw how I reacted to a video of myself talking came up on the computer today. But yeah, enjoy, and if you feel so inclined, sing "Under the Sea" in your head while you're watching it.

Also, this is a picture my friend took of me in the van on the way to the riding clinic in Vermont, and I just wanted to demonstrate to all of you what happens to a person when they are stuck in the backseat of a van for eight hours.

Peace.

The First Project

I'm excited to begin working on the video for the Show & Tell assignment, because I can't wait to go through and look at all the video of me riding. Unfortunately, I wanted to be able to use the tripod for it, but I didn't want any of the horses to spook at it, and only afterwards did I also realize that the light coming in from the building create a bad glare. I'm hoping however that I can eliminate those clips and use closer shots instead.

We tried working today, but because our school is pretty much impossible when it comes to letting us do anything on these computers, we couldn't install the necessary software and it just went all kablooie. But hopefully by Thursday our school will have come to our senses and realize that they need to let us work so we can get good jobs. Wow...our school could be responsible for our personal failures in the workplace. There's an interesting law suit.

Peace.

This weekend.

So this weekend I went to a riding clinic in Vermont with the equestrian team. We left on Friday and it took us 8 hours to get there because of the snow, but it was fun and we all spent a lot of time together and had a ton of laughs.

Then of course, the event that has made my life just horrible, the Patriots lost the Super Bowl...grrrr. And of course, Giants fans decided to finally show themselves today with all of their gear. Boo.

Well, off to another week of having no time for anything.

Peace.
